Every successful company will always cherish its humble beginnings and Mawums is no exception. We started as a small-scale registered Ghanaian Enterprise in 1995 supplying timber and its allied products to the then-booming housing sector in the Northern part of Ghana.
The Enterprise concentrated on the supply of timber and other merchant activities that involved traveling to the timber producing regions of Ghana notably the Brong-Ahafo, Ashanti, and the Western Regions to purchase quality timber products which the Northern and Upper Regions obviously lacked due to its geographical location. The timber was then transported to various parts of Northern Ghana, principally to Tamale and occasionally to Bolgatanga and Bakwu. Indeed, our company chalked a lot of successes and became the leading supplier of timber products to a number of construction companies in the building and road sectors.
In 1997, the Enterprise was issued a certificate to commence business in road construction and won its first road contract in 1998. The status of the company was later regularized through the Registrar General Department and it changed from an Enterprise to a Limited Liability Company in the year 2005.
Mawums Limited offices are strategically located around Ghana for the mutual benefit of both the company and its clients. The Head Office is located in the Accra metropolis and is responsible for coordinating the activities of all the branches and designated project sites around the country. Our Tamale Office serves as the Northern Sector link that caters to several project sites in the four Northern Regions of Ghana.
