Roads & Bridges

Roads & Bridges

Emerging markets including Africa are building well-traveled road networks among themselves in a way that promotes commerce and keep supply chains long. Whilst Mawums recognizes that developing any market like Ghana does not just require good road networks, our operations cover other areas like dam construction and coastal protection.

Mawums has connected towns and cities with its road network all across Ghana. From Paga to the southernmost part of Ghana’s Cape Three Points, Mawums is engaged in the construction of trunk, urban and feeder roads and bridges annually with an average length of 50 kilometers.

The Ministry of Roads & Highways Ghana has registered Mawums as a major road contractor with A1B1 license. Mawums also acquired a D1K1 license from the Ministry of Water Resources, Works & Housing. Our team of road engineers and sub-contractors provide road and bridge construction, maintenance, professional engineering and surveying services whilst balancing safety, environmental protection and cost considerations.

Building roads inevitably requires building bridges. Sub-Saharan Africa being one of the fastest growing regions in the world requires first class roads and railways. Thus Mawums has positioned itself to play an active role in the construction of Trans-ECOWAS roads and bridges. Mawums bridge projects are planned by our engineers and sub-contractors.

Quarry & Mining

Quarry & Mining

Since 2010, Mawums has owned and operated a modern quarry at Shai Hills producing crushed stones, sand and amour rocks. From natural deposits such as granite and gneiss our processes create outputs such as stone chippings by drilling, blasting and crushing rocks which fulfill a range of business and consumer needs. They serve as raw materials to real estate, coastal protection and construction industries.

The company is in the process of establishing another quarry at Arigu in the Northern Region to serve the three Northern Regions of Ghana.

International environmental standards are integrated into all aspects of Mawums quarry operations as part of being socially responsible to the targeted communities. Mawums combines expertise with delivery systems to ensure prompt turnarounds and seamless production services. Our haulage services deliver stone chippings and quarry sand to hundreds of projects and companies across Ghana.

Mawums reserves of aggregates ensure ongoing supply of quarry products to the best of our client’s expectations for the following projects;

  • Houses and Apartments
  • Roads, Bridges and Parking Lots
  • Schools & Hospitals
  • Commercial Buildings & Retail Spaces
  • Sewer Systems

Coastal Projects

Coastal Projects

The coasts are economically important since a large part of activities such as fishing, tourism and commerce occur at the coast, especially in Africa. Coastal erosion is having devastating effects, inducing the loss of infrastructure such as roads, properties and human lives due to climate change and sea level rise.

Mawums is working with the Ministry of Water Resources, Works & Housing to work in targeted communities to tackle coastal issues by using its engineers. Where needed, external consultants and construction firms will be associated with to embark on major coastal protection projects along the coastal belt of Ghana.

Dams & Irrigation Project

Dams & Irrigation Project

Africa is the least irrigated and electrified, yet it uses only 3% of its renewable water. Ghana long ago dammed the River Volta, yet more towns and communities lakes and rivers remains to get dams to irrigate farmlands, electricity and human use.

Without the right partner, the engineering can be shoddy, water bodies polluted, cost overruns once the dams have been built.

With the D1K1 license from the Ministry of Water Resources, Works & Housing, Mawums can undertake dam and irrigation projects. Mawums has worked on a number of water distribution and dam projects in the northern parts of Ghana.
